
Radim Vizváry is a mime, director, choreographer, and educator. He is the artistic director of Laterna magika at the National Theatre, the artistic director of the Mime Fest, and the artistic director of the international festival Komedianti v ulicích. He is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary mime in Europe, and his work is appreciated not only in the Czech Republic but also on the international stage.
In his artistic work, he focuses on contemporary mime, combining it with other theatrical styles, visual arts, and modern technologies. His solo performances (e.g. Sólo) have been well-received by both audiences and critics. He collaborates with major theatrical institutions, opera and drama companies in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Radim Vizváry is the recipient of the Thálie Award and the ITI (International Theatre Institute – World Organization for the Performing Arts) Annual Medal for his long-term achievements in theatre. In addition to his artistic career, he teaches at the Department of Nonverbal Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU), where he earned his Ph.D., and is the author of the pedagogical method “physical mime.”
His current home stages are Švandovo Divadlo and Laterna magika at the National Theatre.
